Not even Snapdragon 865 can make this ‘budget-friendly flagship’ shine

Sub-brands are the flavor of the season and Chinese-major BBK has introduced yet another one. Hot on the heels of the Realme X50 Pro, the Iqoo 3 5G joins the ranks of the very first Snapdragon 865-equipped phones. A little over a week after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S20, we now have another brand name that brings you most of the hardware for less than half the price. We spent a

few days experimenting with the latest budget-friendly flagship and here’s the Android Authority take on the Iqoo 3.

Iqoo 3: An acquired design

The Iqoo 3’s style is as inoffensive as it gets. The phone gets hints from OnePlus, Oppo, and a dash of Huawei to develop a hybrid that does not especially stand out in any way. The design is non-descript at finest however, there are a couple of noteworthy additions. The brilliantly colored power key, for one, stands out to break the uniformity of the style.

Dual”air activates “flank the best edges of the phone making it possible for a rather excellent gaming experience. I’ve constantly been a bit careful of gaming-oriented tricks, but color me shocked, the implementation here is better than even the ROG Phone 2.Iqoo 3 showing displayIqoo 3 showing display
Combined with the enhanced haptics, it makes for a rather pleasurable experience. The absence of a high refresh rate screen is a dampener. However, there’s a downer here. While the heaps of power and the air triggers make for a great video gaming phone, the Iqoo 3 does not have a high-refresh rate display screen. With 90Hz and above screens getting popular even in the mid-range segment, it is a pity to see Iqoo skimp out here.< img class="size-large wp-image-1086906 aligncenter" title ="Iqoo 3 showing display screen"src=" https://dbm.today/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/not-even-snapdragon-865-can-make-this-budget-friendly-flagship-shine-1.jpg"alt

Out of the box, the color saturation is a bit too high, but media playback looks rather excellent. The Full HD+resolution is great enough for the 6.44-inch screen size. Conserve for the electronic camera cut-out in the corner, the screen here offers an expansive way to take pleasure in games or anything else you might throw at it.

The Snapdragon 865 and the air sets off make the Iqoo 3 an affordable gaming powerhouse. The Snapdragon 865 powering the show is likely a big motivator if you are thinking about the Iqoo 3. How’s the efficiency? As expected, the phone aces all standards and every game we tossed at it ran perfectly. However that’s not actually surprising.

The most significant take-away with the 2020 class of high-end hardware is high-frame-rate gameplay, and the 60Hz display screen on the Iqoo 3 holds you back from enjoying genuinely next-gen smart device video gaming. Iqoo UI seems little else than a rebadged Funtouch OS.The software experience here is not really up to the mark either. Iqoo UI appears be little else than a skinned version of Funtouch OS from Vivo’s hardware. Extraneous additions like the Jovi smart assistant are cluttered throughout the menu therefore are third-party apps. Not an excellent search for Iqoo.Battery life is in line with what you

‘d get out of a 4,440 mAh cell and the high-end internals. I consistently achieved in between 5 and six hours of screen-on time with aggressive usage. The 55W charging is absolutely worth explaining here, as it lets you complement the hardware in just about an hour. Really hassle-free to have. Are the electronic cameras on the Iqoo 3 any good?Listen, video cameras are hard to get. I shared low expectations and the results were clashing to say the least. If all you do is view images on your phone or share to social media, the ultra-processed, over sharpened images might be to your preference. Blow them up on a large screen though and they simply break down. At a look, the images are good enough to take a look at, however the aggressive processing completely obliterates low-level information.

While the HDR mode works well enough to highlight dynamic range, the application is aggressive and unnatural to look at. Shooting into light,Iqoo 3 Telephotoit can often produce ugly halos around the subject. Furthermore, portrait imaging can be hit or miss on the Iqoo 3, as the edge-detection algorithms simply do not

do a very good job. Iqoo 3 Primary Camera Iqoo 3 Telephoto Despite Iqoo’s claims, low-light images usually ended up soft and lacking in detail. Selfies, nevertheless,

stick out as the phone handles to record true-to-life images with a great amount of detail and even lighting.Interestingly, one of the trademark capabilities of the Snapdragon 865 chipset is assistance for 8K recording. No, you do not get that here. 4K, 60FPS video looks pretty good but the aggressive processing is visible here as well.Iqoo 3 requirements

Should I buy the Iqoo 3?

There’s nothing actually wrong with the Iqoo 3, but it is a rather boring effort for a fresh upstart. The design has actually been done to death and the software experience is uninspired. What operate in its favor is an appropriate imaging and the large efficiency experience.

However, with the launch of the Realme X50 Pro, the Iqoo 3 does not actually have the first-mover advantage. Unless air triggers are somehow an essential for you, I would offer the Realme X50 Pro a long, difficult look.

Rs44990 .00

The Iqoo 3 is priced at between Rs. 36,990 (~$517) and Rs. 44,990 (~$629) for the 4G and 5G variations of the phone. That’s not a bad rate at all for the most recent and greatest hardware. A phone is more than the sum of its parts and the total experience simply isn’t there. Offer the Iqoo 3 a pass.
